Stilled.
March 2021 / Self-reflective project
Stilled. is a series of photographs and texts that explore the idea of escapism and distress. After a long time, I am finally coming to terms with my anxiety and emotions of depression.
Similarly to our minds, water takes different formations. Sometimes those formations are tranquil, but most of the time they are not. My feelings and emotions take the form of water, interpreting the sudden changes; where just like water, they never stay the same. The endless water and its unpredictable movements attempt to feed my imagination with the feeling of hope. The hope that soon I will be exiting my misery and entering new beginnings.
This body of work encourages the audience to reflect upon their own mental health struggles and invites them to discover their own imaginary escape from reality.
